I've got a few questions about HBH:

1. If HBH only contains essential oils, water, lecithin and sodium lauryl sulfate, why does it have a warning for external use only and keep out of reach of children. Also, it says if ingested, to contact the Poison Control Center. A similar warning is on straight lemongrass oil.

2. It also says to only feed when supers are removed. Why? My guess is it would flavor the honey, but maybe there is some other reason.

Thanks,
Greg

HBH is a concentrated form of essential oils which are harmful if ingested in concentrated form. Properly diluted in sugar syrup it is harmless to bees.
You should not feed sugar syrup or HBH to bees while harvesting supers are on the hive. If you do, you will get sugar syrup, HBH or HFCS in the honey, depending on what you are feeding. All feeding should be completed before supers are added or after they are removed.

Same lable is on Preperation H. Who is going to ingest that? Gotta cover your arse. ;)

Your right. It will flavor it. Bees love it and will store it. If you use it. Use as the lable says. Not sure what that is since I make my own, but I use it very early and late in the season. While supers are not on.
