Wierd sighting last night

I was walking by my hive yesterday evening at dusk, most of the bees were back in the hive. On the ground were 2 workers stuck together. One was dead the other had it's stinger stuck in the dead bee, and was trying to get itself lose.

I don't think it was a robbing situation because they both looked liked 2 of my young bee's. It was almost dark and not much activity going on. Compared to the feral or wild bees in the area my bees are a little smaller and much lighter in color.

Anyway I was wondering if workers ever fight or what might explain this.

Not sure but I suppose it happens from time to time. Could have just been an errant bee visiting the wrong hive and paid the price.

They had a sister-sister spat, just like my sisters used to have but it got out of hand. Probably something like "MY drone father is better than YOUR drone father!"
