I got a package on Sunday and hived them without incident. I hung the queen in the middle of the hive on the top bars. It is in a single deep with 3 frames of honey, a divider feeder and a pollen patty. The package was shaken on Friday. Wednesday morning I removed the cork cap and put in a marshmallow. When I looked Wednesday night the marshmallow and queen were gone. There were still bees clustered on the queen cage and on the lip above the cage.
I didn't go through the hive as i was told not to until at least Saturday but I noticed that this hive was buzzing noticeably whereas my other hive from last year was almost quiet. The bees weren't aggressive and weren't flying much as it was cooler and mostly dark.
I was concerned that they might have the "queenless roar".
Any suggestions beyond try and be patient and see what you find on Saturday?
Thanks for your input!
