lol friend gave me some hives with some old frames.. the frames are nice and old.. and dark with bee wax and use.. i also heated them in the oven at 250 to liquify any wax on them and heat the propolis.and to kill anything that might be on them.. it is now a beautifull waxed piece of woodwork. now. is there anything crafty i can do with them? any kind of furniture or art.. craft? it seems a shame to just ditch them.. the hive bodies ive cleaned up for some new hives im starting..

I would put new foundation in the frames and use them, if i knew the used equipment wasn't exposed to foul brood. Jack

most of them i am doing that.. i baked them in the oven to kill off anything but ill have excess and was thinking of different things to do with them.. i just had an idea of a cross stich pattern using the frame as a .. frame lol..
putting it in like you would the wax.
these are verry old frames but still in good condition.. aparently kept in a shed for years after the old owner died from what i heard.. and then sold to my friend on the cheap.. cant beat 5 bucks a box with the frames.. i call that almost free..

It's a pain to store equipment but it's good to have when you need it in a hurry, like if someone calls and ask if you want a swarm or if you decide you want to split a hive or expand your operation. You might even need them for more supers. There just good insurance. Jack

With the addition of some custom glass, could make beautiful picture frames. Also would work for creative framing of plastic "stained glass" artwork. Could also be used as a recipe holder (the kind you use when you are cooking up one of Chef's secret recipes) if it has split bottom bar (just flip it upside down). Some of these ideas are dependent on type and size, but there must be a thousand possibilities. With some sandwich board cut to size and pins through the end bars, would make great signs for your honey stand.
