I heard that bees love linden trees (Basswood). Here's a pic of one of the largest linden trees in Illinois, about 25 yards from where I'm putting a hive. Hopefully they'll love it. I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone here with any experience with linden trees and bees?
The tree has a 132.5" circumference.

I planted linden trees at the farm. They are a beautiful tree, but very attractive to Japanese Beetles.
Good luck with yours!

None of ours have gotten that large - most are on a fence line, so it is amazing that they have actually survived the ruminants!
Looks like the picture shows your tree in bloom too - the bees are so attracted to the blossoms that it will a buzz of activity. And the honey... Just make certain that you pull the supers quickly so that it is primarily basswood, and the bees don't have a chance to use it!
I love basswood honey.
