The bad news is that I lost two of my three hives so far this winter (one to moisture, one went into winter weak).
The good news is that I have a TON of drawn comb now and frames filled with honey (probably between 10-15 frames just with honey and a few more loaded with pollen). I have ordered packages and plan to install them on the drawn frames in the spring.
So here are my questions: When I install the packages, how many frames of honey should I put in each deep brood box? How many drawn and open frames should be in the brood box, how many frames of pollen in each box? Does the arrangement of the frames in the box matter when I install the packages? And finally, if I install them with frames of capped honey, do I also need to feed sugar syrup? If so, how much? Thanks to all for replies.
