OK, so I got invited to a Purdue Bee Day last Spring with a friend who is just getting into bees.
I thought nothing of it...I threw my old white coveralls and bee veil in the trunk, and away I went. I got to the site, and EVERYONE was wearing their sparkling new suits, lol.
My suit---the elastic left the ankles and wrists YEARS ago. I've got a hole here and there, but nothing major. My veil....well it's rusted through in a couple of spots, but not a problem. Those bees at Purdue were like PUPPY bees, anyway....I would get one in my veil, walk a few steps away, and set her free. The zipper doesn't work any more either.
When I ordered the suit through TSC many years ago, I got the wrong size, so it's way too big for me. I just dealt with it.
Most of the time, unless the hive is hot, I'll just use the veil and goatskin gloves anyway.
However, I may have an opportunity coming up for a cut-out. Thought I might make the plunge and get a NEW suit.
What do you have for a suit, and what are the pros and cons to it?
