Extractors

I'm in the market for an 18-20 frame extractor and noticed Brushy has two that are very different in price. One is their 18 frame with the Baldor motor and the other is a 20 frame with a german motor I've seen advertised elsewhere too.
Anyone have an opinion on either of these - or better yet, how these would compare to the Dadant or the Maxant??

I've used both the maxant 10-20 and dadants 20 frame version. both are high quality machines the dadant has been going for 5 years no problem, and i bought the maxant used many years ago. and they have the added benefit of being manufactured in USA. thanks mike

Maxant - that was not the most helpful reply. I really would like to know the differences, pro and con. (Otherwise, I'll just have to assume that "no comparison" means Brushy is superior beyond words??)

You are comparing a italian made machine to a American made machine.
Our machines are very rugged, and built to last forever. We use a much thicker gauge stainless. I am sure you will find some positive feedback if you search the forums.

well, you are entitled to "cut off your nose to spite your face" if you like. the maxant equipment is of the highest quality...hands down. i doubt that even brushy mountain would tell you that theirs is comprable.

The better half and I decided it was time to move up to a motorized extractor. I did my homework and read all the threads. I called most every manufacturer or distributor and talked to anyone who I knew that had one. Bottom line, I ordered my new 20 frame Maxant yesterday. Another beekeeper I know from Colonial Beekeepers has had one for over 10 years now and He had nothing but good things to say. I called and talked to several people at Maxant and they were informative, helpfull and Patient. I'm sure some of the other extractors such as Dadant and Brushy Mountain would have been good but bang for the buck Maxant got the order.

Good to hear all of the positive things about the Maxant extractors. We just bought a 3 year old, 20 frame extractor and I can't wait to use it.

I recommend Maxant without any reservations. I bought a couple of their 20 frame extractors last year and very pleased with the performance as well as craftsmanship. They are solid and as stated in an earlier post, American made.

I'll go ahead and mention that I previously owned a 9 frame from brushy. It was good for getting me off the ground with a minimal investment but when I outgrew it I knew I needed something beefier and its bigger brother 18 framer did not seem as strong as the Maxant extractors. The follow attributes tipped me to pick the Maxant:

1) strong build (no plastic and no computer gizmos)
2) positive reports from others on longevity
3) good resale value
4) American made

Ok, so Friday I picked up my new 20 frame Maxant extractor. What a nice machine. Very well built. It arrived via freight in excellent condition. I got it unpackaged and showed the better half our new toy and took it for a spin. Even she was happy with it. Worth every penny. I'll take a picture after I finish the new White oak stand I'm building for it.
