What magazine, journal, newsletters do you recommend for new bee keepers?

Bee Culture for newbees imo. I have both. ABJ and BC. And really enjoy both. But I relate and understand BC alittle better.

I highly recommend Bee Culture Magazine for new beekeepers. I also subscribe to American Bee Journal and enjoy both magazines...but if a new beekeeper can only afford one magazine...I'd go with Bee Culture. Winter is a great time to subscribe and start reading up on the bees!

Thanks, guys. Since Thanksgiving I have read Backyard Beekeeping and am now on a honey plant book, with two more ordered. :)
I'll try to sweet talk my wife into letting me get Bee Culture.

This isn't a magazine but a book. See if you can find a copy of The Queen and I, by Edward A. Weiss. It's not so much the instructional books we normally refer to like The Hive and The Honeybee but more the story of a begining beekeeper and his mentor. You will get information from it as you enjoy the story.

Jim Ray, Both Bee culture and American Bee Journal give discounts if you belong to a club. The club secretary usually has the form for you to send in. Join a local bee club. You'll meet a lot of great people, just like here on Beesource, and have a great source of information and help when you need it. Good Luck and happy beekeeping.

Thanks. I've been searching for a local bee club. Havn't found one up here in this part of the state. I'll keep looking, though.

If you can't get both ABJ and BC then I'd get ABJ. It's more advanced but you'll grow into it.
You need them so you can separate the wheat from the enormous amount of chaff you run into on the internet.

Bee Craft (British Beekeepers Association) is excellent. Very much focused towards the beekeeper with just a few hives.
You can subscribe to their new online edition, but I'm very happy with the regular print edition.
Best Wishes,
