Does anyone know who makes the plastic foundation for Brushy Mnt?
I have used Pierco and Plasticell and was needing some more. Thought I would get some more while Brushy had free shipping.

I don't keep up, but last time I got frames with plastic foundation from Brushy Mt. it was Pierco sheets.

into a beehive? much like foreign materials like medications and treatments you are disrupting the natural environment of the colony.
most plastic is extruded or molded with a solvent. the solvent outgasses or dissipates with time.
there is some scientific evidence that a plastic substrate does not allow the bees to communicate via vibrations and sound in the same manner as on pure beeswax.
the only advantage for plastic is for the beekeeper too lazy to make up eppd and beeswax frames.
the bees sure have no reason to want plastic in their hive and do not benefit at all.

The last Superframes I got from Brushy Mtn. was Pierco foundation but the frames looked as if a drunk put them together, no glue on bottoms and stapes at all angles.

Thomsa Seeley's study "Does plastic comb foundation hinder waggle dance communication? (http://www.apidologie.org/articles/apido/pdf/2005/04/M4095.pdf)" of March 2005 found that plastic foundation (Pierco) does not hinder the bees’ ability to communicate with waggle dances.
Here is the abstract (http://www.apidologie.org/index.php?option=article&access=standard&Itemid=129&url=/articles/apido/abs/2005/04/M4095/M4095.html) of that study:
Abstract - In recent years, plastic comb foundation has become widely used by beekeepers but it has not been studied to see if it hinders recruitment communication by reducing the transmission of the comb vibrations produced by bees performing waggle dances. We used laser vibrometry to compare combs built with beeswax foundation vs. plastic foundation in terms of transmission of dance vibrations. We also used behavioral experiments to compare the recruitment effectiveness of dances performed on combs built with beeswax foundation vs. plastic foundation. We found that combs built with plastic foundation are markedly poorer at transmitting the 250 Hz vibrations produced by dancing bees. Nevertheless, we found no evidence of reduced effectiveness of dances performed on combs built with plastic foundation vs. combs built with beeswax foundation. Evidently, a comb built with plastic foundation provides a fully suitable substrate for waggle dance communication.
Broke-T, enjoy using your Pierco...

Well I don't consider myself lazy. I have 8 chicken houses and run 300 cows. I love to work with bees in my spare time, what little I have. I am currently using wood frames with grooved top and bottom bars that the plastic will snap right into. The bees love them and draw them out great. I don't have to nail in wedges or wire the frames. I don't think that makes me lazy only efficient.
If you have the time to use wax great, I don't. I have read all the debates over plastic vs wax and it all works. To each his own.

Bought some Super Frames from Brushy Mtn last season and installed on the honey flow. The bees drew them out just fine...no problem. Installed them not because I was lazy, but because I was busy with fulltime job and got behind in bee hobby. The availability of Super Frames from Brushy really helped me out and they worked just great. Different strokes for different folks. Or as they say in the beekeeping world..."Get 10 beekeepers in a room and ask a question and you will probably get 12 different answers." My guess is that the foundation from Brushy Mtn is a Pierco product. But that is as I said, just a "guess." :)
