When is it to late to requeen in the fall for southern states (Georgia)? Is it a certain Temp. or is there a time frame?

Around here in Southern Arizona, I just keep raising queens and requeening hives that need it, as long as I can. Last season I found that the only limiting factor in raising queens around here, was that drone availability dropped off in early December and didn't pick up again until mid-February. I'm hoping that if I keep providing a little feed, sugar syrup and pollen substitute, that the bees will maintain drones through the ordinarily drone-free period.

I see that some of the S GA queen suppliers have queens available until Nov 1. As long as you are putting in a well mated queen, I don't see any reason you couldn't requeen between now and Nov.
Having said that I wouldn't want to requeen when temps get so low that your bees stay clustered tightly. I believe that I'd want that queen loose before the 'real' winter arrives. Just my opinion....not based on anything more than that.

Purvis Brothers usually has some late queens. I've had real good luck with them.
