Its killing me. I got to give the ole gator pot a stir to set it to spin'in.:D Over the last few months I have seen all the sidewalk superintendants on beesource solve all the worlds problems with a keyboard and a few cheap shots at each other. It set me to wondering how many have taken their ideas and actually put them to work. Either by running for or getting elected to a public office. I bet when it comes down to it the numbers are small.

Thanks, but I prefer hard, honest work. You can't make a living being an honest politician.

Politics is a sleazy world for the most part. I doubt we have any people here who would bend their principles enough to do it. Well, maybe a couple, but not many.;)

I have held a local public office and what office are you talking about. I am on the local board, and the planning commission.

I have a commission, renewed this year, sworn in on July 26, 2008, that will expire July 2012.

I am a local officer, but I never turn in for pay and it's is like Mayberry, I just nod and say yes Maaaaam. I am the local code enforsement officer.

All a big whoppie ding dong.

I am too old to run for President, WAIT, I am way younger than McCain! :)

Does class president count? Well now that I think about it. I didn't win that.

I did win one election. Mostly likely to end up in prison. :D

I wonder how many run there own bee business and make a living at it. :)
That seems to me alot harder than spending a bunch of tax revenue. :(

Way back when I thought I needed to get into law enforcement as a career, I won high praise as a "leader". I don't remember the exact words but it was something to the effect of, "the most physically fit cadet of the class always runs in the back of the class to push the cadets int the back to do their best...That's true leadership."
The worlds problems get solved behind closed doors. The words regurgitated by a politician are really only an afterthought about what the true leaders in the back of the pack have to say. Why be a spokseman when you can be a leader?

CP, very well said.:)

That brings to mind a business associate I happened to meet a few days ago. My first reaction to her was that she was very pushy and blunt. It took me awhile to learn that her background was that she spent 20 years as a drill sargeant in the army. That gave me a whole new perspective. That's kind of what drill sargeants do. They set the tone, then they push you from behind and demand your best. Too bad we don't expect the best from our politicians.:(

Well, we EXPECT the best but what we expect and what we get seem to be two different things.

True. Maybe I should have said it's too bad we don't demand the best from our politicians. Of course in a climate where we don't demand the best of ourselves, what would be the point?

Paying the taxes imposed on a business owner these days is a much more demanding social sevice than public office will ever be. Every Father's Day I wait for a gigantic thank you "dad" card that hasn't come yet.

Yes, they spend it when they don't have it. We can't.

Ya, they don't have to worry about a P/L statement, just a L statement. :)
