I have noticed that some members in the "on line now"
section have an asterisk by their name. What does it
mean????

They are invisable to others, but as a moderator, you can see them?
I always have a asterisk next to my name as each person should as they are the first to be listed.
But I have never seen another person besides myself with one. So, it might be a moderator thing. I'm just guessing. But thanks for the heads up.

Those are the people on Barry's watch list ;)
He's making a list and checking it twice.
We all know who's naughty and nice.

BB,
I actually thought that the first time I logged in with the new format. I looked at my name listed first, with an asterisk, and thought I was being "flagged".
I know I've had my hands slapped a few times, but laughed after I figured what was happening.

Bullseye, there you go stirring the pot and telling secrets. :shhhh:
As to the original question, the asterisk denotes that the user has set themselves to be "invisible" on the board. Only moderators see this, along with the user seeing their own.

So if I'm invisiable, and yet leave beesource open on my computor, but leave for the day.....am I invisible if i'm no longer here to be invisible? Its like "If a tree falls, and nobody hears it...did it really fall?" So on beesource it would be "If a person is invisible, but yet not really there anyways, does that still make the person invisible, or "double secret probation invisible"? (boy...I just had a hunger for "animal house". ) It would be like logging onto the chatroom and walking away...and then counting how many people try to contact you, even though you were not there, but visible on the screen.
And what if I log on through another computor as a visitor? What would that be? I would be here, but not logged on as visible or invisible. I would be like REALLY totally invisible to everyone. So I would be getting over on the moderators. I'm here but you can't see me. :p Then I wouldn't need to leave my computor on to beesource to have the moderators waiting with itchy fingers waiting to delete my next post. Of course I wouldn't be able to post, so they would not know that. So it's probably best to stay invisible, so the moderators can see me :s and keep them on their toes.
Sorry...winter is going to be bad this year. ;)

So I would be getting over on the moderators. I'm here but you can't see me. :p
But, as it should be, we still have the ace at our disposal! It's called "Tachy Goes to Coventry"
This setting allows us to set a user as being globally ignored. Their posts etc. are not seen by any users except themselves. This gives them the illusion that they are still functioning members of the forum when in reality nobody is seeing their posts. :shhhh: :D
So far we've never had to use this setting, but came close one time.
