Ya gotta hand it to the McCain Campaign and especially Gov. Palin for the way they've been running/controling their coverage.
Bring in a political unknown, at the time, from a state no one pays attention to. Great theater. She's an instant hit, especially w/ middleclass middle America. A folksy someone who millions feel that they can relate to. And more importantly perhaps, they feel that she can relate to them. Her debute is skillfully crafted to show off her personality and her speaking ability. "She can even carry on with a speewch when her teleprompter goes down. What a woman." Her coming out is a smash.
In the following weeks Gov. Palin is continully in the spotlight, because of her newness and "troubles" that many can relate to.
Then the candidate goes in front of the cameras and sits down with the media elite, Charles Gibson, Shaun Hannity and Katie Couric. On two occasions she takes a dive. Which engenders sympathy and makes her appear unworthy of her candidacy. The third interview was without any stumbles and mistakes. But she has accomplished her task. The bar of expectations has been set low for her performance in the debate with Sen. Biden.
And how does she do? She does well and fine and better than many expected. And she keeps the McCain Brand name in the forefront 100 some times to Obamas 60 some times. Just what a good advertisement is supposed to do. Well done, Sarah.
The next thing you know she's sitting down with another reporter answering many of the Couric questions without hesitation and explaining that she shouldn't have been so short and testy with Katie and Charlie. She told the reporter, "I know how you guys work. I have a degree in Journalism."
Maybe I'm just jaded, but I think we've been had, been hoodwinked, been led down the path by a smart and skilled political magician and McCain's political machine. One that has kept the McCain/Palin Candidacy within striking distance of Barack Obama.
Watch your back Barack. Saracudda is gunnin' for ya.
