View Full Version : Two 6 inch lobes hanging from topcover

I had a big enough space for the bees to hang two lobes off the top cover where the queen must be laying eggs.

Should I leave them there for the winter?

Also, I don't see any pollen cells. I thought I should have plenty but from what I can tell, I have only capped brood.

My hive is small about 6 frames including the lobes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Only capped brood? no stored nectar or pollen? Sounds like a need to feed.

You can carefully cut off the lobes and tie them into frames with cotton string so they hang in with your other frames.

Don't leave space in the hive, fill space with follower boards or with frames of comb.

Did I mention feeding? Time is running out, it's close to the first of october now. Feed 2:1 sugar:water syrup and pollen patties to build up stores for winter.

Thanks. I needed to know the ratio. Doing it tonight.
