I was told as a new beek that for my area I needed to leave a shallow super on a single deep to get the bees through the winter. Three weeks ago I checked and the supers were full of uncapped honey. Checked yesterday and most of the supers are now full of brood. What now?

If you expect a strong nectar flow put on a queen excluder and add another box for them to make you some money. If you are not in a major flow and are looking at getting them ready for winter. Do mite treatment and watch that they are getting ample stores built up. They will start filling in the brood area including drone cell with honey and pollen if they are preparing for winter. Because this late in the season at least for northern beekeepers the queen is starting to slow down egg laying and the drones will soon be ejected form the hive. They will put the empty drone come to other uses.

Nectar flow pretty much over with except for a little golden rod coming in. Also in the middle of a drought. Just trying to build up for the winter which is mild here in the south. Thanks!
Sounds to me like they may have moved the broodnest up, eating thru the super's stores, probably in a dearth. Check thru the hive to make sure they have stores and if they don't, feed feed feed to get them some stores for winter. Check for pollen stores as well as nectar stores. Try to get all stores built up by end of October, that will give the bees some time to get the stores dried and ready for winter.
