When will the optimum time be this year for seeing the fall colors on the trees in New England?

I suppose that depends where in New England. Here in Central Maine, late September. South of here, later. North of here, earlier. I've already seen a few swamp maples turning red. Scary really, everything else is still green. Dates vary somewhat from year to year. There will be predictions available soon.

Depending on the year, Columbus day weekend is usually the peak in Vermont, while the Northeast Kingdom us usually a week or more earlier. Looks like it might be a good year, as we had such good growing weather this summer.
