hey guys,
quick question here. im getting a half a load of feed for the bees, normaly i get the 55 fructose mixed with the streight sucrose half and half of each. bu this year i can only get teh streight sucrose or streight 55. i dont care for feeding the 55 corn syrup by its self ( bees dont seem to do as good) but if i dont use all the sucrose this fall will it granulate over winter? regards Nick

I'm not sure if it'll crystalize over that time or not, but am glad you are getting all sucrose this year, the fructose is not good for the bees even when mixed 50/50 with the sucrose. IMHO from what I've experienced with my beehives here.

You might consider mixing your own sucrose syrup.

Sucrose delivered out of LA is 0.33/pound
COST CO: $18.27/50 pound sack which = 0.37/pound
So, why buy water?
You will need to pencil out the + & - of the syrup.
We dropped the liquid sugars totaly and mix our own syrup from granulated sugar as we eliminated the toxins in the delivered syrup.

Ernie

I didn’t know you could store sucrose syrup because I was told that it will ferment after a few weeks. What could you do to your sucrose syrup that stops it from fermenting?
