Alright. I have a skunk problem. There is a skunk living somewhere by us and I need it gone. It sprayed my dog again tonight (third time) and I am sick of it. Any suggestions.

You can put out a live trap. Skunks can be a little tricky once you have caught them. You can throw a cover over them and slowly move them. Or stand back an but a .22 slug into their head.

Three times and he hasn't learned yet? I suggest the dog find a new home. Do the have asylums for dogs?

Trapping and shooting is probably the best solution unless you want to take a chance on being sprayed yourself.

Two weeks ago, I awoke at 4:00 AM to the sound of my two dogs barking. This usually happens about once a month and usually it is a raccoon and sometimes an opossum up a tree. This time they had a skunk cornered.
I used this to wash the dogs and it worked like a charm. Absolutely, no skunk smell afterwards.

I haven't seen the skunk since. I suspect he had enough of my Jack Russell Terrier, who will take on any furry animal regardless of size.

Jack Russells do have attitude, don't they?;)

Jack Russells do have attitude, don't they?;)Yes, when I went out I was amazed to see the skunk in one piece, much less alive. I have seen my JRT close with and take on both a large raccoon and a groundhog and survive both without any visible harm. He is short-legged. But, he is one the most muscular and large JRTs I have seen. The raccoon quickly had enough and fled. I had to separate my JRT and the groundhog. They were locked mouth-to-mouth and going at it.
In this case he he was about two feet from the skunk and barking, rather than closing with him. I guess skunk oder is a real deterrent.

I had a problem, called the game commission... they told me to get ammonia and dump and spray it all over every night. Did that for a week... even though they said for a couple nights or so. Nothing after that. Big box of Baking Soda and Large size Perxoide.. buying them three times...and three days and baths later... I could breath again.

My wife says get rid of the dog....haha. I need to get rid of that skunk. I have thought about trapping it or just shooting it. I did have the .22 out last night skunk hunting but I think the dog scarred it away. I have a box trap somewhere that is only open on the one end. My try and find it. Any suggestions what to bait it with?

canned tuna , canned or moist cat food works well. suggest you put a old tarp over the trap before you catch'em. unlikely there is only one so keep the trap out for several days. good luck, mike

Yes, I think the way to go is a trap with a tarp or piece of plastic over it. And, tuna should work. But, you may get an opossum, cat or raccoon.
Eaglerock's ammonia approach may be best, especially if there is more than one skunk. When you trap a skunk you will have the problem of disposal without getting sprayed.
You would either have to kill it or move it miles away so it doesn't return, both of which may be illegal.
In our area the animal control officer will dispose of a wild animal after you trap it in a Hav-a-Hart trap. Or they will trap and dispose of it. In either case, there is no cost to the homeowner.
I once caught a skunk by putting a 5 gallon bucket down over it. I can tell you from experience that is not the way to go.
Actually, skunks do some very beneficial things. They have dug out and destroyed at least four yellow jacket nests on the edge of my lawn in the past few weeks. Those small holes in the lawn you see (not large enough to really damage the lawn) are probably skunks digging out Japanese Beetle grubs. Of course, they can go after your bees also which is not good.

I remember quite awhile back someone posted on here
that you can insert a couple aspirin tablets into a raw
egg. Place the eggs in the skunk vicinity, they eat it
and bleed internally.
Not sure if it works...........
