I have to buy a used scissor lift and am hoping some out
there may have brand suggestions and advice on what
to look out for.

I'd like at least a 20 foot platform height.

Better yet, if anyone has a line on one or two in the upper
Midwest I'd like to hear from you.

Sundance,
I'll keep an ear out. I work in the aviation industry and w/ todays economy things are going down hill in the airlines right now. I'd look around for airline auctions. Airlines going out of buisness or closing down a station you can usually find some decent stuff. Sometimes junk depending on the age of the euipment and airline. But normally their equipment is in decent shape due to the importance of the area we use them around(multi-million dollar airplanes). That being said we use alot of lifts and such to get up on top of the big planes. JLG,Hi Reach are both good. There is an outfit close to me that makes them too called Snorkel out of St Joseph.
Definately ops ck them completely since you dont want one that wont go down once your up there!!!
I'll look for some coming up auctions if I see any for ya Sundance!!

Thanks Zane......... I was gandering at a JLG 2646E
(on line) but it needs a motor controller and they
look like they are going for $800 at least just for
the part. I think they'd go for a $1400 offer on
the lift but I am a bit spooked.

Yep them controllers seem to cause the brunt of the problems on my end. I never did the mx so not sure if they had other issues I didnt know about.
I have noticed our equipment stored outside had more issues w/ the controller and such. The little box its housed in isn't so waterproof! We now have a cover or tarp like item covering our current one. Seems to work if it gets used! Try to find one stored inside if posible(my 2cents!!)
