Are we ready for a safety thread?
I smoked a hive to move it about 5 mile tonight. On the way home, the smoker turned over in the bed of my truck. A small plastic bottle of two cycle oil melted and caught. I had an oil fire running down the length of the truck bed.
How many others have had smoker fires?

You should know by now that smokers refuse to stay lite until you drive home with them in the bed of your truck.
I was with a beekeeper who started a grass fire lighting his smoker, almost burnt down a house.

I drilled and pop-rivitted a coper 3/4" pipe threaded nipple into the tip of my smoker, and put a 3/4 pipe cap on it whenever I'm done with it. That snuffs it right out.

I bought the metal smoker box from Betterbee. It works by itself, but I also plug the spout of the smoker with green grass.

HA HA, I sorry iddee, But would of loved to have seen that, as long as no ones hurt right?
I recall one time working for a local beek and i was useing an aluminum smoker that someone had just given me.Now, I always plug my smoker before travelling but this one time. One of the other employees stuck all our smokers away and neither him nor the boss man were fans of pluging the smokers. their idea was that they would stay ligh for the next yard we go to. Well, the smokers were sitting in one of the 5 empty waxed dipped supers that were straped to the back part of the flat deck, behind the other waxed dipped supers that had frames in them.
We were heading to the next beeyard through a rather busy part of town and we were enjoying a real nice conversation on bees, totally oblivious to the fact that the truck had caught fire, we couldn't see the flames because of the other supers stacked on the cab side of the truck. I think it started with my smoker, it was nothing but a pool of aluminum afterwards. when we came to a red light the boss man looked in his mirror and saw a wall of orange flame and yelled "FIRE". We must have looked like a rocket truck going down that road. we lost quit a few super and the fire trucks came though luckily we had put it out by the time they got there. luckily again is that there was a creek beside us too.
Beekeeping, the adventure continues.

How about a title? The Wisdom of BeeSource. Even if you offered it online, you should offer printed versions. I would buy a copy to consult when the computer was not handy.
