I didn't realize I was so far out of the loop. I know this stuff pops up every four years, but apparently it's more prevalent than I knew. And now this article suggests that the McCain folks are capitalizing on it. Makes you want to just shake your head.
The speculation reached a fever pitch after Obama's European trip and the Berlin speech in which he called for global unity. Conservative Christian author Hal Lindsey declared in an essay on World Net Daily, "Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him-a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib...The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance." The conservative website RedState.com now sells mugs and t-shirts that sport a large "O" with horns and the words "The Anti-Christ" underneath.

People have been speculating on who the Anti-Christ is since Napoleon (and probably before). Personally, I can't see BO being the Anti-Christ as he is just not tactically smart enough or slick enough.

I just ordered my shirt and mug...
It's purely reactionary. The Dems call him the savior and the Reps now use it as a pejorative and turned in against them.
It's funny really.

Although we know that he's probally not the antichrist, he sure has alot in common with him. But the good news... I'm not really worried about it, If he is than I won't be here to see it!

If you're referring to this Barry you need to pay closer attention. This Barry is neither Democrat nor Republican. I left the Republican party years ago after they abandoned their conservative principles and their soul to become the unabashed pimp for wannabe facists, corporations, and megalomaniacs whose only goal in life is to obtain and abuse power and trash the constitutional principles our great nation once held sacred. Most neo-con Republicans today wouldn't know a real conservative if they found one in their bowl of Cheerios in the morning. :) I've always respected the Democrats inclination to stand for the marginalized, but could never quite embrace their willingness to have the government take over the role of charity.
This great nation is a little more complicated than Red/Blue. It's a shame we've bought into the notion that there's only Right or Left and have forsaken the concept of "US".

Barry, I kinda see things a little differently.
I personally am not affiliated with any party, never have been and never will be. I've voted for candidates on both sides of the aisle and independents.
I agree with your statement that Gov't should not take on the role if Charity.
I however see a lot of Republicans as people who still are classic limited government/fiscal conservatives who have mostly been presented with candidates who don't really fit their political and social beliefs.
The party leadership has moved towards the center but I don't think the rank and file membership has moved all that much.....rather they are forced to choose a candidate that doesn't fit their principles but is much better than the opposition (Dems) so they are essentially forced to vote for them.....McCain is a perfect example of this.
The Dems Leadership on the other hand has moved far far to the left and some of the party membership has as well......the big strategy I see within the Dem Party is one of special interests.....they have one special interest group that they pander to and write legislation for to give them some special set of rights or protections.....then they have a separate special interest group that they do something similar but different with.....what they are left with is a wacky coalition of groups that they have to juggle and pander to in order to maintain their support.......
What burns me about the Dems since Clinton is that they can't just treat people as equals...every group needs to be "Special"
Not to mention Spending, Needless expansion of Gov, Increase in nonsense laws, abdication of personal responsibility and the "Victim" mentality.....
As to the notion of "Us", I've lived in a bunch of different places in the US and what I see more and more is a country without a clear identity.....the notion of Multiculturalism is bunk in my opinion and does more to divide us as a country than anything. Don't confuse my disdain for Multiculturalism with lack of respect for other cultures....I just happen to believe that if you're going to live in the US then you should be an American....not a Bushman, Guatamalen, Franc or anything else...just an American....same as unrestricted immigration allowing an extremely large group of people into the US that just don't assimilate and become American complete with an American Culture......Southern California in the last 25 years is a great example of this problem.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
There ya go again. Spin, spin, spin.
