Hi guys I just hived a swarm. Our main flow is over and the dog days are here. So Feeding.... Should I feed a 2:1 or a 1:1? I have been reading the 10 rules post but I am unsure. I am putting them on foundation and I need brood and comb built so a 1:1 then in a few months switch to a 2:1??

Thanks

I was just reading that bees must comsume about 17-20 pounds of honey to be able to biochemically produce each pound of beeswax. I am not sure if that means sugar water or not. If so then maybe you need to change that to 2 to 1 and not 1:1...

For right now...I would feed 1:1. Here is what I do...take a 5 lb bag of sugar and dump it in a gallon jar. Fill the jar with hot water and give it a good shake or two. When it is all dissolved and cool, then pour it into feeder jars or whatever you use and give it to the bees. They'll do just dandy!
