I want to try splitting my one deep hive into two..

How many frames of eggs and such should I put into the second hive?

Any general tips regarding the matter would appreciated.

Is that a 10 frame box? how many frames are sealed brood? open brood? honey/nectar? pollen? Is that hive boiling over with lots of bees?

What time of the year is it there where you are?

we are getting along into late summer now here, I don't think I'd split a single box at this time here. If I had other hives to use as resources, then I might.

Take the box with queen and 2 to 3 frames of sealed brood and a frame or 2 of honey/pollen and move it away and put a feeder on it.

Leave a box in place with 2-3 frames of open brood, making sure there's eggs, and a frame or two of nectar and pollen. put a feeder on it.
