I caught a swarm 10 days ago now. I had put them in a super and started feeding them right away. Five days later I went through the hive and they had drawn out 30% of the foundation and had honey in all of it. I added a regular hive box to the top that day and continued feeding. They take about 3/4 of a gallon of 1:1 a day.
Today my bee stuff came in the mail and I went through the hive all the way. The hive body probably weighs about 30 lbs and has a little capped "honey". There is quite a bit of uncapped "honey". (I realize this is the sugar water.) The super which had all the drawn comb in honey production is now only partially in capped honey, like it is suppossed to look with what appears to be grey pollen. There is some of this that is yellow but the vast majority is grey. There are two or three frames with the middle third in larvae and I found the queen and noticed three or four drones.
It seems like everything is ok except for the grey stuff.
The brood is not yet capped but I don't think it is more than 5 days old based on when I added the hive body.
I don't believe there is much going on around here this time of year where I live and I plan on feeding them until they stop taking it.
What if anything do I need to do?
Thanks in advance.
I am in north western Washington state.
