Prices can't outrun the long arm of supply and demand.

See: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/law-catches-up-oil/story.aspx?guid=%7B54DF629B%2DEF0E%2D4609%2DBA7B%2 D43621AA8DCB4%7D

Now, if we just had a way for the law to catch up with the outrageously high prices that government charges us for their services (or lack of services).

That will happen when Hades freezes over.

oh and just in time for an election... seems it did the same thing during the last election. I am certain it is all quite a coincidence???? (tecumseh quickly puts back on his tin foil hat).

the law that controls what government does or doesn't do is called an election.

Wait, so you're saying govt can just dial in the price of world oil prices whenever they want to?

Yeah, it's that government guy who is beholden to Big Oil. He just sets the price on oil depending on his mood for the day when he awakens. Didn't you know that?;)

If ignorance really IS bliss, you'd think the world would be a little happier place.

They aren't aware that they are in [the state of] bliss.

Let's not all get too excited. Sure the price is going down but there's still a considerable risk premium worked into the price of oil and while we've seen a drop in demand, we haven't seen a drop in risk. What this means is that the price will not go as low as the drop in demand would suggest.

Also, the drop in oil prices resulting from a drop in demand indicates that globally, the economy is shrinking. To quote Ben "Helicopter" Bernanke, there's a considerable downside risk to the upside in oil prices...

It just seems to me that the same people who call President Bush stupid also contend he has figured out a way to control world oil prices. Which is it?
