Observed one hive with tons of bees at entrance, some hanging down off bottom board. We've had a ton of rainy weather for a week to ten days so I haven't done much with the hives. I'm thinking it's prep for a swarm.
Should I do a split and start a nuc with five frames of food and brood, and if so, does the original queen go with the nuc? What's about the queen cells....leave them, destroy them?? I'll probably do a reversal of the brood chambers too....any advice is welcome...
I should add this is a first year hive from a purchased nuc..installed in mid May
