I go out every night around 10 pm or so, and again in the morning about 6 am to have a look at my hive, not an invasive visit, just a view from 10 feet or so.. Sometimes there is alot of bearding in the nights, sometimes not. It dosent seem to corellate to heat or humidity, but they seem content, so im happy. (i did prop the top, since the evenings have been warm)The colony seems to be doing quite well....... beginning to draw the foundation in the upper deep box.

Every morning i laugh at the field bees coming back laiden with white and yellow pollen, their knees looking like they have knee pads on, some flying as if their drunk (i guess from the added weight). Before i added the trap, they would hit the porch, and walk in the hive..... now with the trap in place, it seems they try to land on the "ramp" of the tray, and end up falling (sliding?) backwards, and have to try again. Also, it could be my eyes, but it seems like the opening is less than what it used to be without the trap there. (yes i used the spacers :p )

I'm making a screened bottom board, with a rear access for tray removal, that will put the opening back where it was, and the drunks should have no problem getting home. :)
