Checked my hive this afternoon and I am in real trouble. Top box, full of honey. Bottom box, honey, pollen and about 1 frame of front and back with larve in it. Could not spot the queen or eggs. 3 queen cells. Now what?

In addition I have had a honey super on this hive for 3 weeks. Not even a little bit drawn out. So I think it is honey bound? What is the cure?

Just leave it alone and check it in 3 weeks, see if you have a laying queen. Once you have a laying queen, the bees will draw out the comb in the super and move honey up into it, if they need the room in the broodnest.

If the queen cells are superscedure then you'll have a new queen soon. Have you been feeding or is the honey they're collecting from natural sources? You could make room by moving honey to another hive and then giving them new foundation comb.

If you're feeding, stop. Also, making sure that the ratio is correct. is helpful. ( I believe 1 part water: 2 parts sugar encourages them to store the syrup.)

Do you have other hives? If so, I would take one of the frames with a cell on it, and make a nuc. You'll of course need some bees, and some stores for them, but that doesn't sound like it'll be a problem. Help from Michael Bush's website is always good...

Good Luck! :)
