When you transfer the five deep frames from a nuc to a hive body, what is the best way to do this? I understasnd if it's cool weather you would normally placethe frames in the center; it's PLENTY warm now. I will be adding 5 frames of Dadant, 5.1 foundation. Should I alternate the foundation with the frames from the nuc? Should I put 2 frames from the nuc [brood] in the center and the foundation on the sides with alternating frames from the nuc? I expect the nuc to be FULL of bees!. Is there a "configuration" that's,...perfect?

Depends on your weather and how low it is getting in the evening and early morning. If you are warm, you can break up the brood frames and alternate. I would not do this if you temps are cool though. Maybe three frames on one side followed by an emty frame followed by two other frames from the nuc.

I wouldnt break up the broad nest. Put the original 5 frames from the nuc in the center of the box rotate a undrawn frame into the edge of the brood nest on each side once it is drawn rotate another. If you split up the brood nest and there is not enough bees to carry the queen pheromones you are taking a chane of them building queen cells thinking the hive is queenless. IMO it would be easier for the bees to keep the brood nest cool in the summer if it was together. Heat can kill larva just has quick has the cold.

It goes back to the weather. All depends on what type of weather you are having.

At this time of year, I don't think it's going to be a problem at all for the bees, keeping the brood warm or cool in a deep. It's not like it's going to be 95 degrees for the next 10 days. What I would like to see is that the bees draw out the 5.1 foundation without any "problems" and get on with building up their hive before the winter. I think I will place 2 frames from the nuc in the center, 2 frames foundation on the sides, 2 frames on either side from the nuc and the rest, nuc and foundation frames with the nuc frames the closest.
I wish the bees would "tell me" what they would "prefer". Thanks for advice.
