New Post Timer

Hi,
I'm new and reading as much as I can. This is such a great & active forum.
I use the new posts button almost dayley to see what people have written.

The problem I'm having is after a certain amount of time the forum no longer highlights the new posts. If there is a way to lengthen the preset time I'd like to do it.

Hi Dan -

The Database Read Marking Limit is a function controlled by the list owner that effects all users the same. I currently have this set to 10 days. Everyone has ten days to read a thread that is marked as unread, after which it will no longer be marked.

This allows me to force unread markers to switch to "read" after a so many days. This would be the amount of time after which a user probably has no interest in reading that thread and therefore does not need to know that it contains unread posts.

I can make it a bit longer. How much time are you needing for this to work for you? It's yet another load on the server that I try not to abuse.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm talking about resets in less than 1 or 2 hours. I stop in almost every day. Before I have enough time to read through the 80+ posts it resets.
Possibly its a different control.
