Here is the situation. Check a hive the other day. Found the Queen but there is very little brood. I figured she was failing and I should re-queen the hive. We went to the hive this afternoon with new queen in hand. The brood (what little bit there is) is being uncapped and some of it is being drug out of the cells. The pupae are almost formed. I can see the head and eyes. I removed the queen and introduced the new queen. Has anyone ever had this happen before. Could this be chalk brood. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

sounds like.... 1) starvation (have you had an extended derth?) or 2) the bee in box are hygenic or 3) the queen has failed and is laying only unfertilized eggs.
