I just moved one of my hives about a mile/mile and a half away.

I screened the entrance at 10:00 last night and moved them around 7:30/8:00 this morning.

I put a branch in front of the entrance at the new location then let them go to work. I cleaned up and went home. When I got home I went to go clean up where the Bees where an low and behold there where bees flying around.

I'm not sure if they just flew from their new location to the old one or if some how I screened them out last night.

Now that the suns gone down I went out to check and I found probably a cup full of Bees clustered where they're home used to be.

Is it worth the effort to scoop them up and reunite them with the rest of to colony or is it more work then the potential pay off? On the flip side there will be two Nucs in that location within the next few days, if the survive that long would the "drift" on in?

Thanks,

K

They will successfully integrate with your nucs. I've moved some hives around in the same yard and put a weak nuc in the hive original location and it increases the nuc population very nicely without a big notice in population drop from the original hive.

Thanks Tim.

I figured that would be the case.
