Anyone ever used one of these? It looks like a novelty and yet it might just work. It was given to me a couple of years ago and I have yet to try it but may see if it would work to coax a queen into a Jenter box.

Now that you point it out, it does appear to have more than one use.

You might want to insert some CHOY in it to prevent from swallowing her!!!

I'm not sure what CHOY is.
The way the thing is supposed to work is that you trap the queen in the large opening. Once she starts to walk up the tube she is unable to turn around so she continues to walk up to the small opening. You place the small opening wherever you want her to end up. No likelihood of swallowing her.
Anyhow, its all theory as far as I'm concerned....I haven't tried it yet.

Yes.

The concept is to get the queen to run up the tube and then blow on her to force her into a cage.

It's easier to just practice on drones until you can grab her with your fingers, or use a hair clip queen catcher. The tube is really only useful for putting queens into cages, and even for that I have never found it that handy.
:D I was just kidding about the CHOY.
However I have seen these before. I was told it came from Germany and cost about 30 euro. I would like to have one for my own use.
Anyone know a source in the US?

I usually catch queens by hand when marking them. This gizmo looked like it'd reduce the risk of damaging a 'breeder' during handling and inserting her into the Jenter's opening. I'm not fond of the hair clip queen catcher as I've seen folks pinch their queens in the jaws of the device when catching them.
I reckon there are risks whichever way its done.

Thank you RDY-B
Also looks as if it might be a quick way to collect attendants as well.
I'll place my order soon.
