I have recently aquired 2 swarms.
-One is building nice white comb on the empty frames in the old super box, it's great except its all combined with the next frames about 5-6 frames worth. How do I "seperate" the frames with the least amount of damage?(I understand the rubber band attachment part). I'd like to put it in a brood box but I really dont have to.
-The other swarm I dont see any new wax. I added some old comb(from a recent cutout) w/ brood, pollen and honey and they are eating or repositioning the honey but no "new"wax comb. Except to attach the comb to the frame but very sparce wax. There is alot in bloom and plenty of food for them with all the old honey they are eating up. How long to wait before I need to take action ie requeen or combine?
I found the first swarm @ the neighbors barn in some old hives. The second swarm I retrieved from a tree Sunday May 25th
