Will fire ant bait kill bees? I need to treat mounds in my yard but worried my bees may pickup bait. Any other solutions?

I have poisoned my ants but putting some in the hols and cover w/ a aluminum pie pan and a large rock 10' from my hive! Worked wonders. I have been told that ant poison will kill the bee's so bee careful.

Baits such as Amdro, Quickstrike or Dupont Advion will spend very little time exposed, if you apply it according to label instructions..(when ants are actively foraging). The ants will have it tucked away in their larders within an hour. Apply it with a broadcast spreader, and you will only have ~6-7 grains per square foot. I'd doubt that bees would find it attractive anyway, since fire ant bait is oil-based.
