My hives are not producing honey. The hail storms this spring destroyed the wildflowers around the Azle area here in the NE part of Parker County, NW of Ft Worth, have other Beek's had this same problem?

I planted 5 acres of clover in my orchard and it has been in full bloom for months (up to now). The rain seems to have quit and the clover is just about gone, but the bees are into other things, especially chinese tallow and horsemint. Today I found a medium and a half capped in each hive...great news.
Mine are working horse mint now. Our mesquites are refusing to bloom. Too much rain maybe? They didn't bloom last year either.

There is a few Indian blanket and a few of some Yellow flower. If things don't pick up pretty quick I'm goig to have to buy some honey and feed so they can build up for winter. How about it fellow Beek's in my area, you having flower problems? Hail destroyed 95% of flowers I believe. Any body else noticed the lack of flowers here in NC Texas.

it ain't over till its over..... here the horse mint and mesquite have just begun to bloom (brush country plants like mesquite and black bush are known to be somewhat fickle in their blooming).
don't prematurely go and jump the gun... at least until the horse mint and mesquite are thru..
I have begun to pull and extract here and the crop appears to be small... it also seems to vary from hive to hive with some hives having significant surplus and some very little.
on good or short years it is most times impossible to point to exact cause, although this year we had moisture in the ground and stretches of days with cool overcast days and/or significant winds which I suspected at the time limited the girls flying time.
perhaps give the girls another 30 days and give them another look see.

Mine weren't producing honey and then all of a sudden they popped in the last week or so. Something put them over the edge...maybe the tallow. I am south of you so it's coming your way.
Anyway, we had a big hail storm too and one of my friends had 12 windows break and needs a new roof. But the mesquite is lush and blooming just fine here in Austin. I see horse mint but not many Indian's blanket for some reason.

I've got a ton on Indian Blankets. A bunch of some yellow flower too. It looks kinda like a cone flower with dark brown for 1/4" of the petal and the yellow the rest of it. The thistle here is just starting to bloom. And the mesquites have buds but won't bloom yet. 15 miles west of here everthing I mentioned has been or had been blooming weeks ago. If you have alot of mesquites like I do. I think just wait a little.

Here is a pic of the yellow flower I was talking about. I was out at my hives last weekend and the primrose was still strong. Went tonight and the primrose is all gone and there is a ton of this much smaller pink flower.

The yellow is one of the many varieties of blackeyed susan. I have ton of them too. I don't see the bees work them however. I also have the small pink flower. I'm not sure what it is. Mine are working horsemint almost exclusively now that the pickeral weed is going to seed. Vitex is starting to bloom too.
