I'm two weeks new to this game and have two hives. Hive 001 seems to be doing what it should be, goes through the syrup in my feeders, is drawing comb (albeit crazy shapes in places), storing honey and pollen and has a queen crawling around but I don't see any eggs.
At the end of the first week, the queen was not out of the cage when I looked. The plug was gone and workers were moving in and out but she was still there. I think the staple from the hanging device may have been blocking the way just enough. I pulled back the screen and put her into the hive and gave it another week. I looked today and all looks well except the no eggs to be seen. What's my next step?
As a point of reference, hive 002 looks like a picture from a "your hive should look like this" page in a book: eggs, larva, pollen, honey and comb. They don't take to their syrup as much but have more frames worked on and seem to have more workers returning with full pollen baskets.
