Several of my hives are superceding as Walt Wright predicts they will if you can prevent swarm preparation past the reproductive swarm cut off date. I know they are superceding as there are not many cells, some are central on the frames and some cells are capped and the queen is still laying. I am doing cut down splits just before the blackberry flow. I am putting the old queen in the new splits. Should I Kill the old queen and put supercedure cells in the split? Should I leave supercedure cells in the original hive? How many should I leave? Is it better to leave open cells or capped cells? Thanks!
