I have major dilemma...or so it seems to me being new to this. A wasp just walked into my hive. This has me concerned not just for the bees, but for the crew putting up a fence in the vicinity. I had the hive closed up this morning because this crew was working very near the hive. I decided to let them out just a few minutes ago because the weather is beautiful and they are working hard to get established, and they have been very docile...up to this point!
Just a moment after I opened the hive this wasp made its way in. A few minutes later a bee came after me and laid her stinger in the cuff of my shirtsleeve.
I just opened the hive 2 days ago, and I'm reluctant to do so again so soon, especially when they now seem angry and there is a work crew nearby (who really should have had their stuff taken care of yesterday). What should I do??? Just let the bees and wasp duke it out, or go in and put the hive tool to the invader? I really don't want to give the crew any more excuses to postpone their work and force me to keep them closed up any longer either...they really need to be out foraging.
Help please!
