Some hive history first:
Put package in hive 4/8/08 (terrible weather: cold & rainy but the bees came in)
10 days later identified eggs
Put in 4 frames with new foundation 4/30/08 (removed old frames.. not being used)
Inspected hive and found lots of pollen, but no eggs or larvae, saw the queen 5/7/08

Hive has sugar syrup, a full frame of honey and plenty of pollen. No pests in hive.

Question: What happened? Any advice would be great!

The dandelions just opened 5/7/08... going to check again in a few days.

may I assume you fed this unit constantly from the day the package was installed with no interruptions?

sounds like the queen haulted laying but the hive hasn't killed her, so they think she is fine???? did the queen you saw on may7 look normal... fully formed and ready to lay. any signs at all of a queen cell in the hive?

The hive was fed without interruption and it had 1 1/2 - 2 frames of good capped honey.

Queen looked normal... when we pulled the frame she was on, she hung around for a little bit then moved to the bottom of the frame. We put the frame back in once we found her.

There were no signs of a queen cell.

This queen was laying eggs centered in each cell. The brood that was in the frames is mature and no eggs replaced it.

How do you convince the queen to start laying again?

How many frames are covered in bees? How warm is the weather? How much pollen is coming in? What's blooming?
