I am looking for a portable generator. I need about 25 amps.
I’m looking for something that doesn’t weight a lot, is relatively quiet and
has decent reliability. Quietness would be my top priority.

Any recommendation?

TIA

Go for a Honda right off. Quiet. Easy one pull cold starts, reliable for ten times the life of the other engines.
Northern has some good buys:

I have a Coleman with a 19 hose Techumseh motor. it is a very good reliable generator that provides the power I need when the weather dont cooperate and will run about 8 hrs on 5 gal at 1/2 load. BUT IT IS LOUD!!! WAY LOUD!! If I ever have cause to buy a new generator you can bet it will be a Honda. I''e never seen anyone unhappy with one and they are very quiet.

The only good thing about how loud mine is you can hear when it runs out of gas!

If thats all you're look for absolutely get the honda. It is extremely conservative on fuel because its and inverter type generator. Meaning, as you demand more current, it increases rpms. If your demand is low, the engine speed is low meaning that it runs impressively quiet. So quiet in fact that it is the only generator that has earned the reputation of being absolutely quiet (although its not perfectly quiet).

I run a 12 volt system off of a 5 hp Honda GC series and belt driven to a 100 amp GM alternator. This charges batteries and they feed a 2500watt inverter. The engine runs a min. of four hours every day and has had no maintenance other than oil, plugs, filter and been doing it for 2 years solid. It uses 1/2 gallon every four hours. I used Briggs and Tech. engines before on the same setup and they failed after 300 and 500 hours, that not counting all the carb tear downs and a sucked in screw that came loose off the throttle plate and ended up in the cylinder. I hear Robin engines are good but I can only verify that this Honda has around 2500 hours on it and still starts on one pull at 5 below, I'm sold on them.

I have a Troy Built 5000W for a home back up unit through a load side disconnect panel.
It's very very loud also. It weights about 300 pounds so lifting it in and out of a PU
for camping in out of the question. It's good for home use. I'm thinking about building a box to go around it when in use. Something to baffle the noise and when folds up after use for storage.
