Like the heading says my bees seem to be doing really well. They are NWC and were hived 15 days ago and it would seem that they went right to work. There are 8 almost completed combs and one half done and they are starting on a couple of others. There seems to be a lot of eggs and larva with a very tight laying pattern the queen seems not skip any open hole. Is this normal to be building this fast or did I get lucky. Also I used new paint cans for feeders and it seem's they hav'nt hardly used any of it but they seem to be making lots of wax. Is there enough of a bloom here in Nebraska to explain this. It would seem they have to be getting food some where since they are making wax and even storing what I can only assume is nectar of some kind.

The first week can be the fastest. Little larvae to feed, and the numbers are all there. As the brood pattern increases, more resources will go to feeding larvae, etc. And the hive population will dip until the new bees hatch out, and it will be another ten days after that till they become field bees. So its good they good a good jump on things now, and it sound as if they did.

About the only thing faster would be a natural swarm. They really go build fast.

Sounds great! :)

Isn't it amazing how fast bees build comb when they don't have foundation to slow them down! :)
