Got these bees in late summer of last year, so its their first full spring but with feeding last year they drew about 8 bars of comb.
Here are some pictures from the inspection. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/davewilliamstx/sets/72157604862130774/) In general, lots of capped brood, but combs by no means full of it, not much honey or stored pollen, and lots of moderately testy bees. I guess it was fairly warm outside. Turns out that they have built across the first four bars, which I'll have to fix this winter.
Mixed in a couple of empty bars in the brood nest to hopefully help correct the slight bend in the comb. One of the combs was built with a bit of a hook at the end, straying off the bar, I cut this small section off and turned the bar around, to hopefully keep things on the straight and narrow.
Any more experienced beeks have any advice on the lack of honey or stored pollen?
