When I first became interested in the keeping of bees last year, I joined East Texas Beekeeper's Association, and jumped right on into it...I looked all over the net at designs for building hives myself, and settled on what all the other guys were using---a standard Lang-type hive. I came across info on top bar types, and was quite impressed. When I mentioned it to a few of the guys, they called them eveything from a fad to an unimpressive gadget or toy to only play with.
Now that I have found this site , I am all set to let them think what they want, because as soon as finish a few more Lang hives I have in process, I will seek out a really easy, but good top bar design, and get after it....I feel that if Africanized bees can be managed with this arrangement, then European types should be a veritable cakewalk.....I may be asking plenty of newbee advice, but I'll try to keep it confined to subjects I cannot find a good answer already posted on .
