OK, yet another question:

I went through the box (3 deeps) for a weekly inspection, when I took the super off to inspect the second box I noticed some cell structure that was being built between the two boxes and there was also some white larva looking things deposited in these cells.

Are these "swarm cells"? If not what are they?

The girls are starting to draw out the comb in the top box and the brood section is ever expanding....

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

David

If the cells are laying horizontally like worker cells, then they are probably drone cells. If the cells hang down and are like a peanut, then they are probably queen cells. I'm going to guess they were drones.

There are swarm cells:

That's a pretty picture, Michael.
NMBEE, My bees are notorious for building bridge comb the right size for raising drones. Here's another pic of some swarm cells, drone brood, and worker brood.

Thanks for the replies, my bees are building these structures BETWEEN the super and the second brood chamber - I believe that they are drone cells none-the-less but am of course a NEW beek and everything looks, well, not meaning to be redundent but NEW!!

Thank you very much!!
