I finally discovered that Redstem Filaree, Erodium cicutarium is the invasive weed species, presently blooming in my area that provides the bees with a source of nectar and pollen. And that the pollen is of a bluish-gray color.

Yes, it looks pretty nearly identical. A close look at some today in bees pollen baskets even had a shiny appearance as if it were very moist. It looks bluer in the pollen baskets, once they pack it into the cells it is still blue, but then it looks more gray than blue.
