As you notice my handle blkcloud..well I didnt get it from having the luck of the Irish..I like a bunch of you carry their veil and gloves with you all the time in your truck..you never know when there may be free bees for the taking..well today I had to drive my big rollback in to work and yup.. about 12 noon I had one of my hives I keep at work to swarm..man I was overjoyed when they lit on the tire of a wood splitter I have sitting in my parking lot. I got one of my buddies to sit and watch them in case they took off.I borrowed a pickup to run home and get my gear and a hive, when I get back there sits a van in the lot with a BEE MAN personalized tag??? What in the world is going on?? I walk in and there stands Walt Wright... What a neat surprise, Are you populating the area with bees he ask?? I look out at my swarm and they are gone,.... they flew off..I ask my buddy where did they go?? I dont know..one minute they were there, I walked inside, came back to watch them and they were gone..Man I was fire engine hot..Walt then tells me that someone had called 911 to report africanized bees were found and they called him..he was not sure why since he has never given them his name but..what the heck...I lost a swarm but did get to talk with Walt..;)

I've had many conversations with him and all of them were worth more than a swarm. :)

Met him last year at a meeting that he was at to teach about checkerboarding. Was a great lesson but I especially enjoyed talking one on one with him after. His no nonesense style and frankness was a breath of fresh air. And he was just fun to talk with. Wished I lived close to him I would love to pick his brain a little more and would rather talk in person.:)

I am a member of the same Beek Association as Walt (Madison County, AL). My first extraxtor I bought from Walt, a 4 frame hand crank from Kelleys. I also been to his place 3 or 4 times. It's a great place out in the country in Giles County, Tn not far from Elkton, Tn. Lots of rolling hills. IMHO he is ahead of his time with respect to bee behavior.

From Roy,

Thanks for the kudos for Walt. He'll get a kick out of this.

Roy, for me
