wow.. that's a pretty heavy duty machine! I've just got a little Singer that I got cheap a few years ago, the only thing I've made are curtains and the occasional cat bed
you sound like a handy guy to have around :)
drobbins, I love the Sherpa hat on your friend's site. You should have her teach you to knit! its relaxing and better than yoga, you'll have a scarf to show for your effort!

Many years ago, I knitted, crocheted, and embroidered. I made my living for over 30 years on sewing machines.
Magnet-man, call 1-800-445-5657,
Bill's sewing supply.
He is a Juki dealer and can send you the part.
He also does repairs.
The machine you need for the bee suits is a Juki LU-562. It will sew through a half inch of heavy upholstery material.

Yeah Irene, wasn’t that strange? Was anyone put off by your original title? Indeed, I thought it was cutely humorous without being offensively tasteless. But then, apparently at least someone didn’t see it that way.
By the way, I don’t knit or crochet. There’s too many other things to think about like: wood to chop, chain saws to sharpen, trucks to work on, barns to build, horses to shoe, and all those other guy things I rather be doing, if only I was living I the country. :(

I have been sewing the bee suits on a home zigzag machine and home Singer surger. Needless to say it was a slow process, but it was good for getting started with. I am going from 600 to up to 5,000 stitches per minute! Best of all there is an automatic thread cutter when I push back on the peddle. It will also do a back tack stitch when you start and end a seam automatically. You can also raise the presser foot with the peddle. It is also quite unless you are going more than 2,000 stitches per minute.
My new used industrial surger will be delivered this week. I ordered that with an automatic chain cutter also. Needless to say I have been spending money like crazy this past month. The wife is fine with it because she sees the benefit of the industrial machines. :) She wasn't always like that though. I purchased an industrial cutting knife for around $400 and she didn't think it was worth it. She changed her mind after we cut 60 layers of fabric at one time.

My wifey sews. Here's a quilt she made. It's all hand applique and embroidery. There are some bees in it too.

Barry, that's STUNNING, how lovely! she's got a real talent (and is very patient, what detail work!)
I'll have to take a closer look for the bees.. did she do that for your benefit?

wow, that's a heavy duty machine. I do have to say, most beekeeping suits are not what I'd call flattering to the figure.
maybe you can start a line of haute couture beekeeping suits :)
hey, I'd be interested! A girls gotta look good, you know!:p

She puts bees in when they fit the motif. I'd like to think it's for my benefit.:) She has produced some beautiful quilts in the last 35 years. I cannot recall a single day in our 35 years together when she was not doing something with needle and thread, or sewing machine, or scissors.....

yeah, he was at a party at our house, and we had a number of pro and former pro costume designers...they were blown away by the craftsmanship, and the math behind what he was doing :)
