View Full Version : Looking for a TBH Keeper near D.C.
Good afternoon everyone,
I'm a beginner here in D.C. and was wondering if there were other TBHers nearby. I've been reading like crazy, talking to some lang folks, and spent the last month getting two hives built and set up on my roof. It'd sure be nice to have some local advice and the chance to "see how it's done".
thanks,
Dave

I am in Crewe and presently have 3 Kenyan TBHs. We are about 3 hours SW of DC.
Well, it's good to see some others around. I just ordered my packages, so I need to finish getting the hives built (need to complete 1 roof and waxing in the starter strips). Excitement (and trepidation) abounds!
Maybe I'll get to see you all at some point.

You are always welcome stopping in at my place. I have a TBH. It would be a couple hours drive. I have an open house, a class, and a picnic, scheduled this year. Check out the events on the website.

My son and his family are in Rockville, I'll be heading over there a lot as their 2nd child due to be born any day. Might need a bee fix sometime while I'm there.,,:)

Oh I forgot to mention I put windows on my TBH with slideing covers. I hope this wont be a problem but if it works I think it will be pretty sweet
Scrpy1- Yes, I did the same. The better to learn about what's happening, without having to open the hive. I read one person who strongly suggests that newbies have a observation hive (Michael Bush, maybe)?
Second hive went on the roof yesterday. Now I just need to finish up with the top bars and I'm ready to go.
